Lacey Turner announced as newest ambassador for Rays of Sunshine

Actress and soap star grants magical wish and is announced as an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine

We are so excited to announce that Lacey Turner today, on Wednesday 16th December 2020, becomes an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine.

As part of her new role, the star, known for her role in popular TV programme EastEnders, will help us continue to grant magical wishes, as well as help raise vital funds by supporting our fundraising and increasing awareness.

To mark the beginning of her relationship with us, Lacey took time to grant a special wish for a young man named Gabriele. Gabriele, 20, from Bedford, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2019 and, as a result, has had to endure chemotherapy treatment. He loves acting and has been a fan of EastEnders for years and his greatest wish was to meet his favourite character, Stacey Slater.

To make his wish become a reality, we organised a special video call with Gabriele and Lacey, where he got to spend time chatting with her and asking lots of questions about acting and her current role. Questions included: ‘Have you always been into acting?’ and ‘Do you think you’re anything like Stacey?’ before signing off by saying he’ll be next to her on set in ten years’ time.

After the call, Lacey commented:

It was a real honour to grant Gabriele’s wish and it was so lovely to speak to him and his family. To see his strength and positivity was incredibly inspiring and I am delighted to become an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine. As a mum to a young family, I cannot begin to imagine how devastating it must be to hear the news your child is living with a serious illness, which is why the work Rays of Sunshine does to bring joy and hope to those families is so important. I’m really looking forward to helping the charity continue spreading sunshine in the future.
