Darts fan Evan thought he was in for an ordinary day, but thanks to our friends at SPORTbible, a very special surprise was waiting for him: his ultimate darts hero, Luke Littler!

Meet Evan
At just two years old, little Evan was already practising his throw with his very own toy darts set. With several family members playing the sport, including his mum, who represents Scotland, it’s no wonder Evan grew up with a passion for darts — both playing and watching!
For Evan, now 11, his favourite player is none other than world number one, Luke Littler. With Luke winning his first PDC World Darts Championship at just 17 years old, Evan’s admiration grew, and as his mum Kelly says, “Because Luke is so young as well… so if Luke can do it, Evan can do it too”.
A little boy with big fighting spirit
Evan was just five and a half when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
What followed was long periods in and out of the hospital, with Evan undergoing numerous procedures and receiving 16 blood transfusions and 10 platelet transfusions.
He was also in considerable pain, with the illness and treatment affecting his muscles and leaving him unable to walk.
Through it all, Evan’s personality continued to shine.
“Even through the cancer, he was resilient,” Kelly recalls. “When he was ill, he just kept smiling. When he went to the hospital, every nurse there loved Evan — they say he was a handful!” Because even on difficult days, Evan would try to get up, play, and do the things he loved, often needing reminders that he had to rest.
She knew when things were particularly bad because, as she explains, “You knew when he was ILL ill… he just lay there and slept”.
A little over three years later, Evan rang the bell to celebrate the end of his cancer treatment.
A wish to meet his hero
When it came to his wish, it was no surprise that Evan's dream was to meet his darts hero. With SPORTbible and Luke’s help, we gave Evan a surprise he would remember forever.
Under the guise of helping with a darts filming project, Evan confidently showed off his skills — only to turn around and come face-to-face with the person he had been dreaming of meeting.
The look of shock on his face said it all! Usually full of chatter, Evan was left almost speechless as he stood right in front of his hero, Luke Littler.

The impact of Evan’s wish
Afterwards, Evan told his mum that he couldn't believe it had really happened.
And the excitement has continued, with Evan practising with his new darts, while wearing his new merch — according to Kelly, “he says he plays better with his Luke Littler top on”.
We hope Evan’s time with Luke has given him memories to treasure, plenty of inspiration to keep practising, and even more reason to dream big. Who knows, perhaps one day we’ll see Evan stepping up to the oche himself, with his sights set on becoming World Champion!
