Apply for a magical wish

Refer a seriously ill child for a wish

Wishes are as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a fireman, meet a real-life mermaid or even the Loch Ness Monster, we work hard to make that wish come true.

The step-by-step wish journey

  1. A medical professional refers a child for a wish – We accept referrals from medical professional online, with the parent/legal guardian’s permission. A referral can be made by a child/young person’s social worker, health play specialist, family link worker or a medical professional involved in their care. If you are a parent or guardian, please speak to your medical professional about applying
  2. Wish Application/Medical Form – After a child is referred by a medical professional, we will reach out to child’s family emailing a link to complete the next stage giving their details.  We will also reach out to the child/young person’s main consultant or nurse specialist to complete our medical form
  3. Application Review – The application will be reviewed to see if it matches our eligibility criteria. We will let you know if  your child has been accepted for a wish.
  4. What can I wish for/Wish Excitement – If you’re eligible for a wish, the excitement can begin. The family will be sent an email link to complete our Wish Request Form. Our experienced Wish Granters will work with the child and their family to determine the type of wish that can be granted and how best to deliver the experience.
  5. Wish Day – The magical day is here! Make special memories together for the whole family.
  6. Beyond the Wish – From the moment the wish is granted, you become part of our wish community. This means you are invited to join in any of the events which take place throughout the year – across the UK and online. You can also stay in touch by supporting Rays of Sunshine, there are many ways to get involved like fundraising or volunteering to help us grant magical wishes for other families.
