How to show your support

One-off donations 

To make a one-off donation, text the word SUN followed by the amount you want to donate to 70490. For example, to donate £5, send the text SUN5 to 70490. If no amount is specified, a default donation of £5 will be applied. Texts cost the chosen donation amount plus one standard network rate message. 

 

Regular donations 

To set up a regular monthly donation using your phone, text the word SUN followed by the amount you want to donate each month to XXX. For example, to donate £5 each month, text SUN5 to XXX. Texts cost the chosen donation amount plus one standard network rate message during set-up, and then the donation amount each month thereafter until cancelled. 

 

How much can I donate? 

You can donate any whole amount between £1 and £20 per text by entering the relevant amount after the word SUN. 

 

For example: 

• SUN5 = £5 donation 

• SUN10 = £10 donation 

• SUN15 = £15 donation 

 

Can I claim Gift Aid on my donation? 

Yes. After making a donation, you will receive a text message with instructions on how to apply Gift Aid to your donation. 

 

What happens next? 

You will receive a text message confirming your donation and thanking you for your support. This message may include a link to enable you to add Gift Aid to your donation. If you have set up a regular donation, you will receive a monthly reminder message with details of how to skip that month’s donation if you wish. 

 

How much will it cost me to donate? 

We use the Donr text giving service to process donations. You will be charged the donation amount plus one standard network rate message. 

 

Text Donation Terms & Conditions 

• The SMS donations service to Rays of Sunshine is provided by a third party supplier. We are therefore not liable for any delays or failures in your receipt of SMS messages. Delivery is subject to transmission from your network operator and your mobile device. 

• Our text giving service provider, Donr, charges a processing fee of 5% plus VAT on each donation. This means that a small proportion of your donation is retained by Donr to cover processing costs, with the remainder going to Rays of Sunshine. 

• 100% of any Gift Aid claimed on your donation will be received by the charity. 

• When you make a text donation, this will either be deducted from your mobile phone credit (Pay as You Go) or added to your mobile phone bill. 

• You may be charged a standard rate message for your text message. Please check with your network operator for details. 

• If a text donation fails and you choose to complete your donation by card, additional card processing fees may apply. 

• Donr may also apply a payment processing fee to payouts made to the charity in line with their standard terms. 

• You must have the bill payer’s permission before making a donation. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent or guardian’s permission. 

• You should receive a confirmation text within a reasonable timeframe following your donation. 

• If you experience any problems making a donation, you can contact the Donr Helpline on 0333 4444 111. 

• Donr provides text giving and fundraising services to charities registered in the United Kingdom. 

• If the keyword or short code you text is incorrect, you may still be charged but your donation may not reach Rays of Sunshine. 

 

Data Protection 

Data obtained in connection with this SMS service may include your mobile number, your network provider, and the date, time and content of your messages, along with any additional information you provide.
