Wish child Tommy features in new BBC Three Tommy Fury documentary

Rays of Sunshine is delighted to share that 7-year-old Tommy has had his wish to meet boxer Tommy Fury featured on a BBC documentary.
 
Tommy first took up boxing after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia – and used the sport to stay strong and channel his emotions during gruelling chemotherapy. 
 
When it came to his wish, he knew exactly what he wanted: to meet a real-life professional boxer. And we had just the person in mind! 
 
We arranged the ultimate wish day for the budding boxer, where “Little” Tommy would get to meet “Big” Tommy Fury. The day included VIP access at “Big” Tommy’s local gym and a 1-2-1 training session with his hero.  

“Little” Tommy’s skill and determination blew Big Tommy away – he even called him “one to watch” for the future.  

Tommy’s mum Lucy said: “He was so complimentary to Tommy – and I know my son felt about ten feet tall knowing that a real-life professional boxer believed in him like that. It was so special for us.”   

At the time of “Little” Tommy’s wish, “Big” Tommy was filming the second instalment of his documentary series, Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury. Tommy was over the moon to learn that his wish would be included – and he was later invited to walk the red carpet at the premiere of the first series, an unforgettable moment for him and his family.

Yesterday was another special milestone: Tommy celebrated his 7th birthday on the very day the second part of the documentary was released. He spent the evening watching it at home with his family – a perfect way to relive the magic of his wish all over again.
