What is the Bright Board?

The Rays of Sunshine Bright Board is a skills-based educational programme for former wish children to take their first steps into young adulthood.

Having faced serious illness at a young age, you’ve already shown incredible strength, resilience, and courage. Now, it’s time to channel those qualities into building a bright future. Whether you’re exploring career opportunities, considering further education, or stepping into the workplace for the first time, the Bright Board gives you the tools and support to succeed. 

Who can apply for the Bright Board?

Members of the Rays of Sunshine Bright Board will:

• Be 18-25 years old;
• Have had a Rays of Sunshine wish in the past;
• Provide personal details and a brief description of your wish, as well as any specific career interests;
• Be able to commit to a two-year place on the Bright Board.

What can Bright Board members expect?

Bright futures start with bright skills. Through workshops, mentoring, and a supportive community, the Bright Board will ensure you get the tools and guidance you need to navigate young adulthood with confidence.

We aim to provide 3-4 educational sessions a year (for example, writing or public speaking workshops, or other mentorship opportunities) as well as 3-4 informal online chats and volunteering opportunities at Wish Community Events.

Depending on your interests, there may also be opportunities for writing articles, fundraising projects, giving talks or other work experience days.

How does the Bright Board help its members?

We work with Bright Board members to help build confidence, nurture potential and make strong connections as they enter young adulthood.

The board will encourage members to follow their passions and develop real-world skills that will stand them in good stead for the future.
