Rays of Sunshine Sensory Bags are a set of sensory resources categorised into three parts - See, Touch and Hear.

They are designed to help facilitate play interventions for children and young people in hospitals across the UK.

What are Sensory Bags?

We're delighted to be able to offer our sensory bag kits to provide comfort, joy, and distraction to seriously ill children during their hospital stays.

Each bag is filled with toys designed to engage sight, touch, and sound, helping young patients feel calmer, more engaged, and a little happier even on the toughest treatment days.

The sensory bags are designed with the purpose of being multi-use and all items are wiped clean to adhere to infection control procedures.

Why is sensory play important?

Being in hospital can be scary, confusing and overwhelming, especially for children. Sensory play helps in lots of ways:

• It can calm and soothe distress or anxiety
• It gives children something to focus on in a difficult environment
• It supports development, emotionally, cognitively, physically, even when their body or mind is under stress.

If you’re a medical professional and you’d like one of our sensory bag kits for your young patients, please apply today.

We will be accepting applications on a first come first serve basis from Hospitals/departments/wards/hospices who have children who meet our medical criteria – you can view these on our website here
