Hospital Activity Days

We work with hospitals across the UK to provide children and young people with days of fun and distraction on the wards.

These days, such as International Day of Play, help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation for children and their families.

International Day of Play

To celebrate International Day of Play and highlight the importance of play in children’s healthcare, Rays of Sunshine funded activity days across six hospitals in the UK.

Children receiving treatment at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Addenbrookes (Cambridge), Great North Children’s Hospital (Newcastle) and the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) were treated to music and singing, arts and crafts, princess and superhero visits and entertainment, as well as special goodie bags.

“When we were singing and dancing with the entertainers with Rays of Sunshine, it felt like we were just having fun at home.”
