Best friends Nick and Jordan run length of the UK and raise £10K to grant more magical wishes to seriously ill children

Two friends smile for a picture while pointing at a wayfinding sign. They appear to be on the coast, with blue sea and sky behind themRays of Sunshine is delighted to announce fundraisers Nick and Jordan have raised more than £10,000 from their ultramarathon challenge to run the entire length of the UK.

Nick Foster and Jordan kicked off their gruelling John O’Groats to Land’s End challenge (commonly known as the JOGLE) on 27 July, and spent three weeks completing gruelling 70 kilometres of running every day. They undertook the mammoth feat to fundraise for Rays of Sunshine – the charity that grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children in the UK.

“We’ve done this to grant as many wishes as possible for Rays of Sunshine,” says Nick. “We’ve worked so hard, and we couldn’t be prouder to have done this for the charity – thank you to each and every person who has supported us and donated. We couldn’t have done it without you.”

With both he and Jordan working in education, Nick says they understand the importance of joy in childhood. This is what drew them both to supporting Rays of Sunshine. Earlier this year, they even kicked off their fundraising by completing the iconic London Marathon.

“We spend all day during the week making sure young people are happy and empowered, so it only feels right that we’d support a charity that also supports this mission, for children who can’t make it to the classroom,” he says.

Nick and Jordan’s JOGLE challenge saw them go through and around cities and towns across the UK, including Inverness, Edinburgh, Manchester and Liverpool, Bristol and Penzance. They were supported throughout by Nick’s dad.

Nick says, “We are not elite runners. We are not full-time athletes. We are just two blokes with a big goal, a lot of heart, and the willingness to show up every day.”

Amy Chambers, CEO at Rays of Sunshine says: “We are beyond grateful to have the support of the unstoppable Nick and Jordan as they tackled their John O’Groats to Land’s End challenge.

“We receive no government funding and are only able to make magical wishes come true for seriously ill children because of the generosity and effort of fundraisers like them. Everyone at Rays of Sunshine is so proud of their achievement.”
