Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity fulfil three-year-old’s wish to be a princess for the day

A seriously ill three-year-old girl from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, had her greatest wish granted to become a Princess for the day thanks to Rays of Sunshine (

Three-year-old Nadia, from Wisbech, is currently living with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a rare cancer of the white blood cells which has resulted in her needing Chemotherapy and continues to take Steroids. Due to her Chemotherapy, Nadia has a very low immune system which restricts her from taking part in the typical activities of children her age as she is at high risk of infection. Despite what she has been through, Nadia is a happy and caring little girl who doesn’t complain about her regular hospital visits. Her greatest wish was to be a Princess for the day.

To make her greatest wish come true, Rays of Sunshine organised for Nadia and her family to travel to Leamington Spa, where Nadia was treated to a royal makeover at the Raspberry Salon. This princess makeover included hair-styling and a manicure, before getting an exclusive ride around the town on a special Unicorn, courtesy of Kate Wingrove. Following her magical ride, the family were taken to Warwick Castle, where they were treated to a private tour of the castle and an overnight stay in the Rose Tower Suite in the 14th century Caesar’s Tower. In addition to this, Nadia was surprised with a visit from two of Disney’s most famous Princesses, Anna and Elsa from the 2013 film Frozen. Anna and Elsa shared a special princess tea with Nadia and read her bedtime stories before heading home to look after Olaf. Her wish helped Nadia and her family to create some unforgettable memories and for the young girl to feel truly special.

After her wish, Nadia’s mother, Ewa, commented:

“Thank you to Rays of Sunshine for a magical weekend. We all had an amazing time, especially Nadia who was one happy princess. A massive thank-you to everyone who helped this weekend and made it all so special. We are on our way home with big smiles on our faces!”
