Jane Sharpe, Chief Executive Officer

Jane has been involved with Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity since it started in 2003, helping to establish the charity’s hospital contacts, and being responsible for its volunteer network.

After working on a volunteer basis for 7 years, Jane became Chief Executive in September 2010.  Jane has led and grown the charity during her 6 years as CEO and during 2016, Rays of Sunshine touched the lives of over 12,000 children.   Under Jane’s guidance, Rays of Sunshine aims to ensure that  every seriously ill child receive their wish.

Jane’s passionate about our wish children and firmly believes that once a child has had a wish with Rays of Sunshine they become part of the Sunshine family

PR & Communications:

Laura Barnett, Head of Communications & Development

With a background in PR, Laura volunteered with Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity for seven years before joining the team, in the office, in 2010.

As Head of Communications & Business Development, Laura has been instrumental to the growth of the charity and has been involved in some of its most high profile wishes, including Emilia’s Lamborghini wish and the charity’s 3,000th wish; Lauren’s wish to meet a real-life mermaid.

Sarah May Kershaw, PR & Communications Manager

With over seven years in the PR industry, Sarah May previously worked at consumer PR agency, Frank PR, before joining Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity as a part of the PR and Communications team.

Sarah May is responsible for all press and marketing enquiries, both reactive and proactive, as well as celebrity engagement, helping to grant wishes.



Sara Rees
Sara Rees, Head of Fundraising

Sara started her fundraising career in 2006, specialising in corporate partnerships.  She has worked for some of the most well-known charities in the UK and managed a number of multi-million pound projects and teams.  She was thrilled to join Rays of Sunshine in December 2016 to lead the fundraising team in raising more money, to grant more magical wishes.

Amy Chambers, Corporate Partnership Manager – Deutsche Bank

Amy joined the team with a longstanding background working within the corporate sector, who’s role as a marketing manager was responsible for the introduction and implementation of a CSR strategy, combined with nine years’ experience of securing and managing corporate partnerships. Much of Amy’s career in recent years has been spent as the account manager for investment banks including Nomura and Deutsche Bank, raising significant funds.

Kirsty Chandler, Community Fundraising & Engagement Manager

Kirsty joined Rays of Sunshine in April 2017, with extensive experience in managing Community Fundraising for a variety of charities. Kirsty is responsible for building relationships with individuals, schools, local businesses, wish families, RAG and student societies. It’s Kirsty’s role to make sure that anyone organising their own fundraising event for Rays of Sunshine has the best possible experience.

Olivia Fox
Olivia Fox, Events Manager

Olivia joined Rays of Sunshine in 2016 bringing with her a wealth of event management experience. In her role as events and fundraising manager she is responsible for the charities largest fundraising events and nurturing relationships with major donors and patrons.


 Joanne Lazarus, Challenge Event Fundraiser

Since starting her fundraising career in 2011, Joanne has developed great experience in managing a number of fundraising events. Joanne has joined the Rays of Sunshine fundraising team to help grow and develop the event calendar and to bring the best experience to our challengers by providing support throughout their journey and encouraging them to raise as much as possible to help grant more magical wishes.



Wish Team:

Hayley Allan, Chair of Wish Appeals Committee

Hayley began her career in advertising. After the birth of her son, Jake, she began voluntary work in wish granting charities and in 2003 became a co-founder of Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. From it’s outset Hayley was responsible for granting many of the charity’s earliest wishes. Hayley continues to be committed to brightening up the lives of seriously ill children by granting wishes and chairing the Wish Appeals Committee.

Sally Levy
Sally Levy, Northern Hospital Liaisons Officer

As Northern Hospital Liaison Officer, Sally is responsible for expanding and maintaining our relationships with our valued referrers in hospitals, hospices and other charities in the north of the UK.

Katie C
Katie Clark, Wish Engagement Manager

With over five years working experience within the health care sector, Katie joined the Rays of Sunshine Wish Team in April 2007 as a Wish Administrator.

Since joining Rays of Sunshine as a Wish Administrator, she has been promoted through to Wish Engagement Manager. Her current role includes granting wishes, organising events and working with the corporate fundraising team to support corporate partners.

She has also been involved in the arrangements of the first Rays of Sunshine Concert and the first Rays of Sunshine Choir!

Sarah Osborne, Senior Wish Manager

Sarah joined Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity in 2007. With over eight years’ experience in Wish Granting, Sarah is now one of the charity’s Senior Wish Granting Managers.

To date she has granted over 500 wishes and looks forward to doing many more. She has also been involved in organising the charities 10th Birthday party and 5,000th wish at No.11 Downing Street. 

Caroline Foubister, Wish Manager

Caroline joined Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity in January 2014. Past work in high-profile events at Cancer Research UK and overseas work for a health charity in Africa, prepared her well for life as a Wish Granter.

She has been involved in many exciting wishes to date, including Cobie’s wish to visit the Nou Camp in Barcelona, and Cameron’s wish to visit Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant, ‘The Fat Duck.’

Claire Kelly
Claire Kelly, Hospital Liaison Manager

Claire joined Rays of Sunshine in 2015, after 9 years in the Training sector. During this time she was heavily involved in fundraising for the company’s Charity of the Year, which ignited her passion for charity and doing more to help people.

Wish highlights include Poppy’s wish to meet Boy George, Abi’s wish to Disneyworld Florida and any wish that indulges her Harry Potter geekiness! In September began her role as Hospital Liaison Manager.

Megan Scott
Megan Scott, Wish Granter

Megan joined Rays of Sunshine in 2016. After graduating from university, her work at Body & Soul helped prepare her for role as a wish granter.
Some of her wish highlights include a Gossip Girl themed London trip and helping a wish child tick off her bucket list.

Carly Borg
Carly Borg, Wish Granter

Carly joined Rays of Sunshine in 2016. Carly has a background in the health sector, both Adult Nursing and working for the London Ambulance Service. As a 999 call handler, which has given her transferable skills to bring to the charity.

Wish Highlights include Ella Chadwick meeting the X factor Judges and being able to sing her heart out to Simon Cowell.

Alice Black, Wish Granter

With a background in the arts, working in London’s West End, Alice moved into events before joining the Wish Team at Rays of Sunshine in 2016. Highlights so far are typically theatre related and include wishes to meet ballet phenomenon Carlos Acosta and West End star Rachel Tucker.

Jemma Collison
Jemma Collison, Wish Granter

Jemma joined Rays of Sunshine in June 2016. My role as a wish granter is to organise individual wishes for children and be the point of contact for the family from the outset. I ensure that things run smoothly from initial contact to the date the wish is granted. I am passionate about ensuring each wish is as special as the child I am granting the wish for. To date, some of these include meeting and feeding baby elephants, celebrity make overs, family holidays and I am also in charge of all Liverpool Football Club dream days.

 Mandy Lee, Wish Granter

Mandy has been working with Rays of Sunshine since the charity was formed in 2003 . After working as a volunteer for 12 years Mandy joined the office in June 2015 as a full time wish granter and her current role includes granting wishes, organising events and co-ordinating the team of wish granting volunteers.
