Working for Rays of Sunshine:

Since 2003 Rays of Sunshine has been brightening the lives of children with a serious or life-limiting illness. We give brave young people across the UK the chance to put their illness on hold, experience happiness, and create precious memories. Our work includes: granting life-changing wishes; activity days and development projects at children’s hospitals and hospices; and organising group outings and events.

In 2019, our work touched the lives of 20,000 children and their families.

Demand for our service has increased by 100% since 2011 and we get no statutory funding. Our vision is to grant the growing number of wishes, and provide greater access to resources, support and information for all families who need our help.

Hospital Liaison Executive – 2 x roles (London and Birmingham)

The Hospital Liaison Executive is responsible for carrying out our Hospital Activity Programme, which is one of the key services of the charity. As an important member of the wish team, the Hospital Liaison Executive reports to directly to our Hospital Liaison Manager.

We are looking to recruit two new part-time Hospital Liaison Executives,; one to cover London and the South East and another to cover Birmingham and surrounding areas.

The Hospital Activity Programme is designed to reduce the feeling of isolation amongst children during their stay in hospital and provide them with access to innovative and fun activities to both stimulate and brighten their day.

The role involves working closely with Hospital Play Specialists and medical staff from hospitals and hospices across the UK. This includes scheduling the events, planning the activities, managing volunteers, evaluating the programme and evolving the resources to ensure the charity continues to offer innovative activities influenced by the children themselves.
