Self-Storage Company celebrates successful first year of partnership with wish granting charity

Storage kind

Storage King, the UK-operated self-storage company, celebrates raising a fantastic £11,615 for Rays of Sunshine, a children’s charity that grants wishes for seriously ill children, in 2015, the first year of their partnership.

This exciting relationship, which launched in January 2015, saw Storage King donate £1 to the charity for every new customer moving into Storage. The company also held events throughout the year, including a ‘Sunshine Day’ where all staff wore yellow to help with donations, the year also saw a number of staff take on personal challenges from jumping out of a plane to taking on a triathlon, all in the name of charity!

The money raised has helped grant magical wishes for seriously ill children across the UK, like three-year-old Olivia, from Pontefract, who is currently living with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, who had her greatest wish granted to go to Peppa Pig World, and six-year-old Mimi, from Bishop’s Stortford, who is currently living with a Brain Tumour, who saw her greatest wish to go to Disney World Florida fulfilled.

To kick start fundraising for 2016, Storage King will be encouraging customers to donate their refund deposit to ROS at the end of their lease, as well as continuing to donate £1 for every sign-up in 2016.  In addition, each store and the Head Office have pledged a fundraising target of £200.00 each to achieve in the year. All funds raised will help Storage King reach its target of £15,000 for the year – that’s a lot of wishes!

Robin Greenwood CEO at Storage King, commented: “We were looking for a charity that we could partner with that all our customers and staff could embrace and that was Rays of Sunshine. We are happy to continue our fund raising this year and aim to increase our sponsorship by a minimum of 30%”

Jane Sharpe, CEO of Rays of Sunshine added: “We can’t be more thankful to Storage King and its customers for embracing our partnership and raising a fantastic £11,615. As a charity who receives no government funding, the money raised will make a substantial impact and help us grant magical wishes for seriously ill children. We look forward to another successful year of partnership!”
