Rays of Sunshine grants 12-year-old’s wish to meet the cast of A League of their Own


A seriously ill 12-year-old boy, from Sheldon, Birmingham, had his greatest wish granted when he got to visit the set of the famous TV programme, A League of their Own, and to meet the famous sportsman cast, thanks to Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity  

Bradley, from Sheldon, is currently living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic condition that causes severe, progressive muscle weakness, after being diagnosed in January 2005. Due to his condition, the young boy is unfortunately now unable to walk, therefore requires a wheelchair at all times as well as to take daily medication. Despite what he has been through, Bradley has remained positive and brave throughout his illness. The 12-year-old is a big fan of the TV programme A League of Their Own and this was the inspiration for his greatest wish.

To make his wish come true, Rays of Sunshine organised for Bradley and his family to travel up to London, where they not only spent an exciting three days exploring the city, but were also whisked off to the Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, where his favourite TV programme is filmed. While he was there, Bradley got to see the set and meet all his favourite presenters including; Jamie Redknapp, Freddie Flintoff, James Corden and Jack Whitehall, spending time chatting to the stars and taking some pictures. After an exciting afternoon on set, the family then returned to their hotel after a long day. The trip gave Bradley the opportunity to forget about his illness for short while and to create some unforgettable memories.

After his wish Bradley’s mother, Sarah commented:

“The wish was amazing and we still can’t believe what everyone at Rays of Sunshine did for Bradley. It was out of this world.  You have not only made Bradley’s day but his life! He is still over the moon, even now.”
