Band celebrates becoming ambassadors for wish granting charity with an exclusive lunch with VIPs
To celebrate, Parisa, Betsy-Blue, Charlie and Mikey took time out of their first UK headline tour to invite some very special VIP wish children to a special lunch, where they got to spend time with the band and enjoy an exclusive acoustic performance of their latest single ‘I Do’. The lunch, which was held at the charity’s corporate partner Frankie & Benny’s restaurant in Finchley Road, was also a part of the restaurants’ national fundraising weekend which saw all 250 restaurants fundraise to help grant magical wishes for seriously ill children across the UK.
Among them was 17 year old Shannon, from Borehamwood, who is currently living with Chron’s disease and nine year old Katie, from Mill Hill, who was living with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, which she was diagnosed with at the age of just three years old.
“I didn’t just meet Only The Young – I got to spend real quality time with the band having lunch and chatting to them. They even invited us along to their first UK headline concert, with VIP tickets! It’s not every day that you get personally invited by the band to one of their shows, so we were SUPER excited to be there!”
Only The Young said:
“After meeting some of Rays of Sunshine’s brave wish children we felt inspired to get involved with the charity, and help them bring a smile to the faces of seriously ill children. We feel privileged to be an Ambassadors for such an inspirational charity and look forward to meeting many more amazing children.”
Only The Young will join the charity’s other ambassadors who include, Simon Cowell, One Direction, Dynamo, Pixie Lott, Olly Murs, Gordon Ramsey, Leona Lewis, Louis Smith and Lorraine Pascale.
Rays of Sunshine CEO, Jane Sharpe said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Only The Young to the Rays of Sunshine team of Ambassadors. The band are a real big hit with our wish children and their support will enable us to brighten up the lives of seriously ill children across the UK.”
