Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity grant wishes for six seriously ill children to meet pop star
THIS WEEK, Olly Murs made the wishes of six seriously ill fans come true this week when he treated them to an exclusive meet and greet. The singer has been an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity, since 2012 and regularly gives up his time to help grants wishes for seriously ill children in the UK.
The exclusive meeting took place at MediaCom Head Office in London, where he spent some quality one on one time with the children, before posing for photos and signing photos for them. The children, aged between seven and 18, travelled across the UK to meet their idol.
Amongst them was Tia-Mae (9) from Strood, Kent, who is currently living with Turners Syndrome, who took the opportunity to ask the pop star to be her boyfriend, as well as sing a rendition of ‘Kiss Me’ with the star, and Lizzie (8) from Essex, who is currently living with a range of serious health complications, following a kidney transplant due to Renal Failure.
Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity ambassador, Olly Murs, commented:
“I love being an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity and meeting such brave and inspiring children. Putting a smile on the face of children like these reminds me why I decided to become an ambassador for the charity and hope to be involved for many years to come. A big thanks to The Fragrance Shop for raising over £500,000 – that will make lots of children’s wishes come true.”
The morning was made possible thanks to Rays of Sunshine’s corporate partner’s The Fragrance Shop. 5p from every transaction made at The Fragrance Shop is donated to children’s charities. To date, the fragrance retailer has raised £573,000 for Rays of Sunshine, helping fund wishes for seriously ill children like Tia-Mae and Lizzie.
