Rays of Sunshine and Outfit grant group of seriously ill children’s wished to meet the pop-star

This week, Olly Murs made the Christmas wishes of nine seriously ill children come true thanks to Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity, and Outfit, the out-of-town multi-brand retailer from Arcadia. The singer has been an ambassador for the charity since 2012 and regularly gives up his time to help grants wishes for seriously ill children in the UK.

Amongst the children was Kieran (6), from Lincolnshire, who was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour in May 2016, which was surgically removed, Connor (16), from Coventry, who is currently living with a rare genetic condition called Phelan McDermaid Syndrome, Tia-Grace (15), from Surrey,  who is living a rare neurological condition called Neuromyelitis Optica, and Miah (9) from Andover, was diagnosed with Wilms Tumours, a rare cancer of the kidneys, in May 2016. As a result of her condition, Miah has had to have her kidney removed, as well as endure weeks of Chemotherapy treatment.

The exclusive event was hosted by Rays of Sunshine’s fundraising partner, Outfit, in central London, where Olly spent time chatting to all of the children, before posing for photos. When it was Kieran’s turn to ask the famous singer a question, he asked him if he could sing ‘Why Do I Love You?’ with him, and Olly was more than happy to oblige.  Kieran, who was dressed in a festive reindeer jumper also got to sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with the popstar.

Tia asked

“If you could only take one CD on a desert island, which would it be?” to which Olly revealed, “I would definitely need it to be a compilation CD, maybe Ministry of Sound Disco… I love disco music!” Hayden asked Olly “what is your favourite to perform at?”, to which Olly told him: “I think my favourite venue would have to be performing at Maddison Square Gardens in New York. It was also very cool performing at Wembley Stadium and hearing everyone singing Troublemaker back to me!”

Kieran commented:

Today has been the best day of my life!”

Kieran’s mother commented:

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Rays of Sunshine. Kieran had an amazing time meeting Olly Murs and as he said, was the best day ever! Olly is such a down to earth person who made every single child feel extra special. It was lovely to see the wonderful smiles on all the children’s faces.”

Rays of Sunshine ambassador, Olly Murs, commented:

I love being an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine and meeting so many fantastic families and children. It was a pleasure to chat to the children and spending time getting to know them all. I had an amazing time and a very big thank you to Outfit for making it so special.”
