It’s easy for us to say that we bring the Sunshine to anything and everything, but last month, we truly did! From the London Marathon to special celebrity wish days, we brought the Sunshine with us everywhere we went and finally felt the first touch of Spring! Here are just some of the highlights from April…
Revving Up Our Engines for Ferrari!
Strictly Come Dancing professional, AJ Prichard joined Rays of Sunshine at the Silverstone Circuit for the Ferrari GTB Experience Day, where 60 seriously ill children experienced the thrill of riding in a Ferrari on the iconic race track. A massive thank you to AJ for making the day extra special for our families and, of course, to Ferrari Northern Europe for another amazing event. View additional photos from the day here.
Introducing the Latest Rays of Sunshine Ambassadors…
In April, we welcomed not one, but two new Rays of Sunshine Ambassadors including Yianni Charalambous, and Josh Llewellyn-Jones! Yianni’s been a long-time supporter of Rays of Sunshine and is a supercar customiser to the stars and owner of Yiannimize. Josh is the youngest person with Cystic Fibrosis to have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and fifth person in the world to complete the 24-hour ‘World Physical Fitness Challenge’. We’re excited to work with them both to continue bringing sunshine to lots of brave and deserving children across the UK. Read more about Yianni here, and about Josh here.
A Magical Night for Wishes
Champions Of Magic performed exclusively for Rays of Sunshine at The Mermaid in London. This special event gave more than 250 seriously ill children, who have had their wishes granted, an evening of entertainment and distraction. See more photos from the event here.
Granting Wishes with Our Ambassador, Harry Styles!
We were thrilled to grant some very special wishes when Celebrity Rays of Sunshine Ambassador, Harry Styles, invited a group of excited wish children to an exclusive event at The O2, ahead of his sold-out concert. The world-famous popstar spent time with each child, answering all of their questions before taking many pictures and presenting each child with their own signed tour t-shirt. The star ensured every child went away with precious memories to cherish forever.
Dion’s Wish to be Batman for the Day
In April, we were honoured to grant Dion’s wish to be Batman for the Day! Dion’s special day included a unique Batmobile, a helicopter ride and a visit from Batman’s special hero friends. This experience allowed Dion to enjoy a day away from his typical routine of hospital treatment and replace it with a day of adventure and excitement, which he could share with his whole family. Check out the video below!
Powering Through the Heat for Wishes
Twenty-two of our incredibly resilient runners powered through the hottest London Marathon on record as part of #TeamSunshine! So far, our runners have raised £75,000 for Rays of Sunshine with fundraising numbers continuing to climb. Thank you to everyone who’s supported #TeamSunshine whether it was with a monetary donation or cheering them on during the race; your support means the world! Check out more images from race day here.
