Award-Winning LaplandUK Hosts Star Studded Gala In Aid of Charity Partner Rays of Sunshine

Last night LaplandUK, the UK’s first immersive and theatrical Christmas experience for children, hosted a celebrity Gala in aid of their charity partner for 2015, Rays of Sunshine. X Factor stars Sam Bailey, Jay James and Melanie Masson, singer Suzanne Shaw, comedian Katherine Ryan, presenter Dominic Wood, and stars from the popular Ladies of London Caroline Stanbury and Juliet Angus were all in attendance to raise awareness of the vital work Rays of Sunshine provides.

It is the second year in which the award-winning Christmas experience has chosen to partner with Rays of Sunshine, a children’s wish granting charity whose celebrity ambassadors include One Direction, Gordon Ramsay and Pixie Lott, to deliver the magic of Christmas to those living with a serious of life-limiting illness.

The Gala was hosted at the LaplandUK site on the Windsor Estate and commenced with a drinks reception at 5.30pm before the guests including celebrities, children from Rays of Sunshine and VIP members of the public were able to explore the magical Arctic UK homeland of Father Christmas.

Since the charity was set up in 2003, Rays of Sunshine has granted over 4,000 individual children’s wishes.  Wishes can be as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a princess or a fireman for the day, visit Disneyland or LaplandUK, the charity works tirelessly to make that wish come true.  The charity also grants ward wishes, which offer a distraction to hundreds of children during their time in hospital or a hospice.

Commenting about their partnership and the 2015 Gala, founder of LaplandUK, Mike Battle says,

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the fantastic charity Rays of Sunshine again for Christmas 2015. The ethos of LaplandUK is to make children’s dreams and wishes a reality and therefore the charity is the perfect fit for us. The Gala is a great way to provide these children with an exclusive experience at LaplandUK, raise awareness of the charity’s work and of course raise vital funds.”

Rays of Sunshine CEO Jane Sharp says,

“We are so grateful to have been selected as LaplandUK’s charity partner again. Having experienced the charm of LaplandUK first hand, we know what an enchanting experience it is going to be for our wish families. Our mission is to put magic back into the lives of brave and deserving children across the country and LaplandUK is a perfect way for us to do that.”

LaplandUK, the brainchild of husband and wife Mike and Alison Battle, was born in 2006 out of personal frustration at the lack of good quality Christmas experiences that celebrate childhood innocence and the traditional Christmas values for children here in the UK. Since it first opened its doors, the Battles have worked tirelessly every year with their team of critically acclaimed stage managers, set designers, production assistants, and actors to offer families a truly captivating experience to keep the Christmas magic alive.

Now in its ninth year, and with the Little London Awards ‘Best Family Day Out 2015’ title under its belt, LaplandUK opens again on the Windsor Estate to offer families a tailor-made three-and-a-half hour journey through the Arctic homeland of Father Christmas and his elves.
