Rays of Sunshine and Red Rock Entertainment treat seriously ill children to Strictly Come Dancing evening
A group of seriously ill children were invited to attend a very special recording of Strictly Come Dancing at Elstree Studios, thanks to Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity and Red Rock Entertainment Film Investment.
Invited along was 17-year-old Elle, from Northwich, Cheshire, who is currently living with severe Epilepsy. It was Elle’s greatest wish was to watch Strictly Come Dancing Live and have her very own ‘Strictly-style’ dress. To start Elle’s wish in true Strictly style, Rays of Sunshine organised for her to have her very own dress to wear. With the help of the show’s seamstresses, she received a very special outfit; a real Strictly Come Dancing dress worn by Strictly contestant, and BBC’s, Carol Kirkwood.
Also invited was nine-year-old Milly who is currently living with Optic Giloma, a rare type of brain tumour and five-year-old Cerys who is currently living with Retinoblastome, a rare type of eye cancer.
The small group got to enjoy being in the audience of a very special recording of Strictly Come Dancing hosted by Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth. They all got to sit in the best seats in the house, right next to the judges, to watch the show. If that wasn’t enough, they were also introduced to dancing stars Aljaz Skorjanec and Brendan Cole.
Michelle, Elle’s mum, said:
“Thank you so much Rays of Sunshine for making Elle’s wish come true. Quite an emotional weekend on reflection. Memories made to treasure and something she will never forget. It was truly a magical day watching and meeting the Strictly dancers. They were all so lovely but was so excited to see her favourite dancers Brendan and Anton.”
Helen, Cerys’ mum, added:
“Thank you so much Rays of Sunshine for this opportunity, we all had a fabulous time. Cerys has got the picture up on her wall and wrote all about it for school news.”
The group got to enjoy the experience courtesy of Rays of Sunshine’s corporate partners, Red Rock Entertainment, a film investment company, based at Elstree Studios. Red Rock Entertainment supports Rays of Sunshine by sponsoring wishes and enabling our wish children to take part in some exclusive behind the scenes experiences within the film industry.
