Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a Wish Granter? Or how we go about organising some of our most magical and sometimes unusual wishes? Or what happens at a Rays of Sunshine Hospital Activity Day? Or maybe you’d just like to know more about how much a wish means to a child living with a serious or life-limiting illness?
Well, wonder no longer – the Rays of Sunshine Blog is here to answer all of those questions and more!
At Rays of Sunshine we’re all really passionate about what we do and the magical wishes we get to grant every day. We want to share that excitement with you – our lovely friends, families and supporters. On this blog we’ll be sharing our days at Rays of Sunshine HQ, snippets from challenge event days, some amazing wishes and – of course – celebrating our wonderful Wish Children!
We’ll also be featuring guest blogs from some of our Wish Children, supporters and volunteers; all of whom help to make Rays of Sunshine the brilliant place it is. Every day at Rays of Sunshine is different and, just like our wish children, no two wishes are ever quite the same either. So get ready for a blog feed packed full of ballerinas, train drivers, mermaids, policemen, unicorns and as much happiness and sunshine as we can possibly squeeze in!
As you can probably tell, we’re really excited about the blog………. and we hope you all are too! So, to whet your appetite, here are a few quotes from the Wish Team about what it’s like to work at Rays of Sunshine:
“Working at Rays of Sunshine as a Wish Granter is such a privilege. I love the relationships we’re able to build with our Wish Families and knowing that we’re helping to give the most deserving children a positive experience is a wonderful feeling.”
“I love building a rapport with my Wish Families and there is no better job satisfaction than knowing we can provide a glimmer of sunshine in and amongst a storm, as recognition of how hard these children and their families have to fight on a day to day basis.”
“Working at Rays of Sunshine is nothing short of a blessing. We are entrusted to give the most precious gift of all; a child’s greatest wish. We build long-lasting relationships with our Wish Children and their families and this is always very humbling.”
“Being able to help a child’s wish come true is an amazing feeling and the relationships we build with our Wish Children and their families makes it even more rewarding. There’s never a dull moment because the children’s imaginations are so wild and wonderful!”
“Rays of Sunshine brings variety into my life. No two days are ever the same! The challenges and hurdles that we sometimes face when granting a wish are all forgotten when we hear that the wish has been granted and magical memories have been deservedly created, not only for the child, but for their families too.”
