Winning #SunshineShake to raise money for Rays of Sunshine
Last week, Hollywood Bowl announced the launch of the Honeycomb #SunshineShake in aid of Rays of Sunshine. Following a nationwide competition for diners to create a one-of-a-kind milkshake recipe that reflects the ‘True Taste of Sunshine’, Hollywood Bowl, along with the help of a very special jury, crowned the Honeycomb shake the winner.
To pick the ‘True Taste of Sunshine’ winner, Hollywood Bowl enlisted the help of a very special judging panel, a group of seriously ill children who have all had their own wishes granted by Rays of Sunshine. Eight-year-old Oscar and his sister, five-year-old Lily, who are both living with Cystic Fibrosis, 10-year-old Pierce, who has a complex medical condition which means he has a prosthetic leg, and six-year-old Chloe, who is currently living with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, came together at their local Hollywood Bowl in Watford for a tasting session to decide the winner.
To decide what the ‘True Taste of Sunshine’ would be, the children rated each of the shortlisted entries based on their texture, appearance, originality of ingredients and, most importantly, taste. The shortlisted recipes included a Mango Milkshake, a Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake, and the Honeycomb Milkshake. After a tasting session of each shortlisted recipe, the Honeycomb milkshake came out victorious, pipping the others to the post based on its taste, which went down very well with the jury.
The winning milkshake will launch in time for the school summer holidays in ten of their Hollywood Diner centres, with 20p from every milkshake being donated to Rays of Sunshine to grant wishes for brave and deserving children, like Oscar, Lily, Pierce and Chloe.
