The Great Aviva Bake off 2016 took place on Thursday 17th March in aid of Rays of Sunshine and The Benjamin Foundation.
Just like the TV programme Aviva asked staff to bake something of their choice to fit into one of our three categories;
- Cupcakes, tray bakes and cakes
- Breads, biscuits & savouries
- The showstopper – anything you want to show off
The judges Lindsey Rix, MD Personal Lines and Sam Smithson-Biggs, UKGI Transformation Director tasted each and every one of our 17 entries and gave each one a score and picked a winner from each category.
Drum roll please…..
It was joint winners for the Cupcakes, tray bakes and cakes category
- Charlotte Bahr for her “Pot of Gold Brownie Cupcakes”
- Miranda Punter for her “Summer of Love” Victoria Sponge with Strawberries and Cream
In the Breads, biscuits and savouries category the winner was Kerry West with her Raspberry and White Chocolate Biscotti.
And last, but definitely not least the winner of the Showstopper category was Ruth Beattie with her St Patricks Day showstopper.
The event raised a total of £160 for Rays of Sunshine, £80 on the day with Aviva doubling through their £ for £ matching scheme.
Overall it was a great event, Sam said
“a massive thank you for today; all of the entries were amazing and I was thoroughly impressed with the effort and thought that had gone into the event”
and Lindsey added her thanks and congratulations to our winners and commented that it was
“another brilliant event, and well done for the amount of money raised, a great achievement”
Here’s to next year!
