Domino’s hosts VIP pizza workshop with wish child Oli to celebrate raising £355 for Rays of Sunshine

11-year-old Oliver & his brother Lewis enjoyed making and eating their very own Domino’s pizzas to celebrate.

Domino’s at Star City, Birmingham, hosted a VIP pizza workshop for seriously ill child to celebrate raising funds for Rays of Sunshine, a children’s charity that brightens the lives of children and young people living with life-limiting illnesses by granting their wishes and providing support in hospitals.

Oliver, from Birmingham, is currently living with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a cancer of the blood. Oliver recently celebrated his 11th birthday with a party and had Domino’s pizza as his party food! He attended the pizza workshop with his little brother, Lewis (7) and his mum, Claire.  Whilst they were there, Oliver and his family for a behind the scenes tour of how Domino’s makes their trademark pizzas, before getting the chance to make some of their own. From kneading the dough to adding their very own toppings, Oliver and Lewis got to make their own delicious bespoke pizzas, which were then cooked in store for them to try.

Domino’s stores across Birmingham raised the ‘dough’ for children’s charity, Rays of Sunshine, to support its fundraising campaign, Ray For a Day, raising funds in charity collection boxes and donating £1 from every Pepperoni Passion pizza sold on 21st June 2019, resulting in raising £355 in one day.

Jane Sharpe, CEO of Rays of Sunshine, said:

“We can’t be more thankful to Domino’s for raising funds for Rays of Sunshine and supporting our campaign, Ray for a Day. The money raised will certainly help us brighten the lives of brave and deserving children, like Oliver, for which we can’t be more grateful. Thank you for hosting such a fun-filled pizza workshop too – a great way to celebrate this fantastic achievement.”

Arshad Yasin, Domino’s Franchisee, added:

“We are delighted to have been able to take part in the Ray for a Day campaign to raise funds for such a fantastic charity and help them deliver memorable experiences. It was a pleasure to welcome Oliver and his family in our Star City store and give them a taste of pizza making at Domino’s.”
