Shopping Centre host regal afternoon with ‘The Queen’ to launch charity partnership
THIS WEEKEND, Brent Cross Shopping Centre hosted some VIP Princesses for an afternoon with The Queen’s doppelgänger to celebrate two special occasions: HRH The Queen’s 90th Birthday and the launch of its charity partnership with Rays of Sunshine.
This exciting new relationship will see Brent Cross Shopping Centre support the children’s charity to brighten up the lives of brave and deserving children like five-year-old Isabella, from Surrey, who is currently living with Retinoblastoma, a rare form of cancer in the eye, who wished to have tea with The (real) Queen, and six-year-old Emily, from North London, who is currently living with Cystic Fibrosis. Both children attended the regal afternoon at Brent Cross, getting the chance to make their very own tiaras and crowns, with help from crown-jewel expert ‘Princesses’, and spend some time with ‘The Queen’ at a private afternoon tea at John Lewis.
To support Rays of Sunshine, Brent Cross has already donated £5,000 to the charity and will be hosting various events, including inviting seriously ill children, who have previously had wishes granted, and their families to enjoy the VIP opening of The Beach on Thursday 30th June 2016, and donating funds from the iconic Brent Cross Fountain to help grant magical wishes.
Jane Sharpe, CEO of Rays of Sunshine, commented:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be Brent Cross Shopping Centre’s chosen charity. Every day of the year, Rays of Sunshine gives brave and deserving young people, like Emily and Isabella, the chance to put their illness on hold and enjoy a moment of escape. We’re so grateful to Brent Cross and John Lewis for organising such a fantastic afternoon for Emily and Isabella with ‘The Queen’ and we look forward to inviting more wish families along to the shopping centre for future events.”
