Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity fulfil Annie’s wish to have a makeover at famous stylist’s salon
A teen from Thrapston, Northamptonshire, had her greatest wish granted to have a makeover at famous stylist, Nicky Clarke OBE, salon, thanks to Rays of Sunshine and The Fragrance Shop www.thefragranceshop.co.uk
18-year-old Annie is currently living with a rare bowel and colon condition, Ulcerative Colitis, which means that she has to regularly take medications and last year had her large intestine removed. Despite this, she has coped well with her illness and has even passed her driving test and GCSE’s with flying colours! Annie loves fashion, music and she is also a keen cricketer.
“Annie coped magnificently with her illness but one of the things that truly depressed her was the effect long term steroids had on her hair. This is why we thought having a visit to Nicky Clarke would be fantastic as she had developed a dread of hairdressers and them insisting on cutting her hair shorter than she wanted due to its poor condition.” Joanne, Annie’s mum, said.
To make Annie’s dream come true, Rays of Sunshine organised for Annie to visit Nicky Clarke’s salon and have a haircut with the man himself. She got to enjoy the full VIP treatment, including a stylish cut and blow-dry with Nicky.
“When Rays of Sunshine told us that Annie had been granted a wish we were over the moon but nothing could have prepared us for the attention to detail that was put into her and her family’s special day. Not only did we have VIP treatment on the day, we enjoyed superb hospitality at Nicky Clarke’s salon and fantastic food and treatments at Harrods.
Annie was over the moon with her day. Thank you so much on behalf of the family, we thoroughly enjoyed Annie’s wish day and the lasting memories.”
Nicky Clarke OBE, added:
“It was an absolute delight to welcome Annie in to the salon and spend time with her making her wish come true. When I heard about her wish to come in to my salon, we didn’t hesitate to book her in for the full VIP treatment! She’s a fantastic young girl and it was great to be a part of something so positive and help Rays of Sunshine put a smile on her face.”
Annie’s wish was made possible thanks to Rays of Sunshine’s corporate partner, The Fragrance Shop, who have donated over £500,000 to the charity since October 2012 to help make wishes come true for seriously ill children.
