About the role
We are looking for someone highly proactive, ambitious and experienced to come and lead on securing new corporate partnerships for Rays of Sunshine. The New Business Manager will be responsible for building new relationships, writing proposals and presenting pitches to win new COTY, strategic and brand partnerships with an emphasis on long term relationships worth £100k+ a year.

Joining a successful and growing fundraising team, you will get to really put your stamp on things – playing a major role in helping shape the future growth and development of the charity and working closely with senior managers and impressive boards of Execs and Trustees.
The charity has a heritage of high value, high profile partnerships with companies like Nomura and Domino’s, and we won a Better Society Award for our partnership with Fragrance Shop plus a Third Sector Business Charity Award for our nationwide partnership with Frankie & Benny’s.
Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Build and manage a robust pipeline to secure new mutually beneficial, multi-year partnerships that meet financial and non-financial targets and support our fundraising vision and priority areas
  • Focus on building momentum through the sales cycle, from researching, identifying and approaching new prospects through to fact-find meetings, tailored proposals, negotiating and closing.
  • Secure new corporate relationships including strategic partnerships, commercial and brand partnerships, charity of the year, sponsorship and corporate grants & foundations.
  • Seek pro-bono support and gifts in kind for agreed projects and services
  • Work with the Head of Fundraising to define new business priorities including sectors and top prospects, strategy and projected acquisition budget
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to identify, define and value propositions you can take to market
  • Create and ensure delivery of cultivation plans for prospects
  • To work autonomously to KPIs and be accountable for own target
  • To be responsible for recording all activities undertaken and report regularly to senior internal stakeholders on pipeline and progress
  • Work closely with the account manager to ensure smooth transition of prospects, and to decide best approach for renewals
  • To comply with all recommendations and best practise set out by relevant bodies including the Institute of Fundraising and Fundraising Regulator

Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity- PR & Fundraising Intern

Rays of Sunshine are looking for a PR & Fundraising Intern to support the team. Based in Wembley, 5 days a week, for a minimum 3 months. Travel and lunch expenses paid.

Role Summary

This is a role for a lively and dynamic individual. As the PR & Fundraising Intern your role is to support the PR & Communications team to generate greater awareness of the charity, its campaigns and partnerships, as well as support the Fundraising team to generate income.

You will be working within a highly focused and passionate team.  The candidate will have strong written and communications skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help maintain and build awareness and the reputation of the charity
  • Liaise with regional media regarding the work of the charity
  • To update databases/distribution lists
  • Helping to maintain social media accounts/support the implementation of a social media strategy
  • Support the fundraising team to generate awareness of both individual fundraisers and corporate partnership activities
  • Liaise with families re: PR consent and event invitations
  • Update the website with new content
  • General admin duties as required, including sending out fundraising materials
  • Maintain a library system for press coverage
  • Tracking coverage
  • Maintain database of feedback
  • Communicating internally press coverage achieved

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Sensitivity and confidentiality to the work of the charity
  • Must have good IT skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Ability to be proactive and plan, balance and cope with competing priorities
  • Creative thinking with the ability to identify opportunities and suggest ideas

Desirable skills

  • Experience of working in communications


  • Willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events
  • Able to travel to events/locations as required
