Two seriously ill teenagers got an exclusive insight into brand new film ‘Eye Digress’, when they went behind the scenes and got the chance to meet its starring actor, Timothy Spall, thanks to Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity, www.raysofsunshine.org.uk, and Red Rock Entertainment Film Investment, based at the world famous Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.

18 year old Toby, from Ruislip, was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney at a very young age, which meant he endured intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and eventually meant he lost his kidney. As a rare side effect of his chemotherapy treatment, the teen then suffered with Cardiomyopathy and had a heart transplant in Sept 2013. Despite all of this, the 18 year old is still determined to fulfil his dream to become an actor.

17 year old Amanda, from Kent, is currently living with a brain tumour. The teenager has, since diagnosis, endured surgery and intense radiotherapy in an attempt to reduce the size of the tumour. Despite this, the 17 year old has always remained positive and focussed on her future, recently passing all her GCSE exams.

The exclusive meet and greets took place at the set of Timothy’s new film, ‘Eye Digress’, directed by Stephen Cookson, and produced by Red Rock Entertainment, which sees Spall not only playing the leading role, but all of the roles!

Both teens were able to enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the film set, including watching Timothy in action, before meeting the man himself.  Amanda whose dream is to become a special effects make-up artist,  also got to spend some time with the make-up team learning how they transformed Timothy to each of the film’s different characters.  Whilst Toby, who is also pursuing his dream to become an actor, got some first-hand experience of life on a film-set.

The exclusive visits were made possible thanks to Rays of Sunshine’s corporate partners, Red Rock Entertainment, a film investment company, based at the world famous Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.  Red Rock Entertainment supports Rays of Sunshine by sponsoring wishes and enabling our wish children to take part in some exclusive behind the scenes experiences within the film industry.

Gilly, Toby’s mother, commented:

“Toby had an absolutely brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Timothy Spall. We can’t thank Rays of Sunshine and Red Rock Entertainment enough for arranging this for Toby – it’s so lovely to see good things happening to him!”

Jenny, Amanda’s mum, commented:

“Amanda really enjoyed herself, she has not stopped talking about it! The highlight for Amanda was definitely watching Timothy being transformed into a woman! She said that he was very funny and the make-up artist was extremely informative. Again that you Rays of Sunshine and Red Rock Entertainment for offering this experience to Amanda.”
